Terms of Use

Last updated: 20 June 2026

These Terms of Use apply to your use of HanaLock. By using HanaLock, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What HanaLock Does

HanaLock helps you add friction before opening apps, categories, or websites you choose. When you try to open a blocked target, iOS may show a Screen Time shield. HanaLock can then ask you to complete a short vocabulary or recognition challenge before granting temporary access.

HanaLock is designed to turn repeated phone impulses into small learning moments. It focuses on vocabulary, scripts where needed, recognition, and short phrases. It is not a complete language course and does not guarantee fluency.

Apple Screen Time

HanaLock uses Apple's public Screen Time technologies, including Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, and shield extensions.

Screen Time behavior depends on iOS, your device settings, Screen Time permission, selected targets, app lifecycle state, and Apple system behavior. HanaLock can configure and reconcile shields, but it does not control every detail of when iOS shows a shield, how quickly a target relocks, or which apps, categories, or websites Apple makes available in the system picker.

You are responsible for choosing the targets you block and for keeping Screen Time permission enabled if you want blocking to work.

No Guarantee Of Perfect Blocking

HanaLock is a focus and learning tool. It is not a security product, emergency control system, parental surveillance system, or guaranteed access-control system.

We do not guarantee that:

Do not rely on HanaLock for emergencies, safety-critical situations, legal compliance, medical treatment, addiction treatment, or controlling another person's device.

Learning Content

HanaLock provides short language-learning prompts. The content is designed for small repeated moments, not full instruction. You should not treat HanaLock as a complete language course, professional translation service, certification program, or guarantee of learning results.

We may update, add, remove, or revise learning content over time.

Accounts And Progress Sync

The current version does not require an account.

If HanaLock adds optional Sign in with Apple or progress sync in a future version, you may choose whether to use it. Account sync, if offered, is intended to help restore vocabulary progress after reinstalling the app. It is not intended to create a social account, advertising profile, or public user profile.

Any account or sync feature must be covered by the current Privacy Policy before release.

Beta And TestFlight

If you use a TestFlight or beta version of HanaLock, you understand that the app may contain unfinished features, bugs, placeholder text, incomplete content, or behavior that changes before release.

When you submit TestFlight feedback, crash reports, screenshots, or comments, Apple may make that information available to the developer through App Store Connect according to Apple's TestFlight rules.

Support And Feedback

You may contact us with support requests, bug reports, or feedback. If you send feedback, you give us permission to use it to improve HanaLock without owing you compensation.

Do not send sensitive information unless it is necessary for support. HanaLock does not need passwords, private messages, financial information, or highly sensitive personal information to provide support.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Intellectual Property

HanaLock, including its design, code, learning content, branding, icons, text, and other materials, is owned by Alex Potozki or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may use HanaLock only as permitted by these Terms, Apple's App Store terms, and applicable law.

Third-Party Services

HanaLock relies on Apple platform services, including App Store, TestFlight, Screen Time, local notifications, and iOS system frameworks. Your use of those services is also governed by Apple's terms and policies.

If future versions add third-party services, subscriptions, analytics, cloud sync, or other integrations, the Terms and Privacy Policy must be updated as needed.

Subscriptions

HanaLock requires an active subscription to use the app.

Plans and pricing

HanaLock Pro is offered as two auto-renewing subscriptions, sold and billed exclusively through Apple's App Store:

Both plans unlock the same features. The yearly plan offers a lower effective monthly price.

Free trial

Each subscription includes a one-time 14-day free trial for users who are eligible per Apple's rules. You will not be charged during the trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription will start automatically and your Apple ID will be charged the price of the plan you selected.

Apple determines trial eligibility. If you have previously used the trial on the same Apple ID, Apple may charge you immediately instead of starting a new trial.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID will be charged the then-current price at the start of each new period. Prices may change; Apple will notify you and request consent where required before any price increase takes effect.

How to cancel

You can cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top → Subscriptions
  3. Select HanaLockCancel Subscription

You can also reach this screen from inside HanaLock at Help & Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to HanaLock Pro until that period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

Refunds

All purchases and refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

Restoring purchases

If you reinstall HanaLock or sign in on a new device with the same Apple ID, your subscription will be available again. You can also tap Restore Purchases inside HanaLock (Help & Settings → Subscription) to refresh the entitlement.

What happens when a subscription ends

When a subscription ends and is not renewed, HanaLock Pro features become inactive and the app will display the subscription screen again on next launch. Your local learning progress and blocking settings are not deleted; they remain on your device and resume if you resubscribe.

Disclaimer

HanaLock is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of these terms may not apply to you.

Limitation Of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alex Potozki will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost progress, device issues, inability to access apps or websites, or failure of Screen Time restrictions to work as expected.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

Termination

You can stop using HanaLock at any time by deleting the app.

We may suspend or stop providing HanaLock, in whole or in part, if needed for legal, technical, security, App Store, or product reasons.

Apple App Store Terms

Your download and use of HanaLock through the App Store is also governed by Apple's terms, including the Apple Media Services Terms and the applicable Apple standard end user license agreement, unless a custom EULA is provided in App Store Connect.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the app changes. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app or through the App Store release process.
